What the service includes

We collect public data from Telegram channels and open chats and hand it over as a ready-made dataset for analysis. The work covers gathering posts with text, dates and reach, channel statistics, member lists of open communities, and posting dynamics over time. How it actually works

Collection is built on cloud actors and Telegram's open bot interface, through which you can retrieve public messages from channels and open groups. We define the input — a list of channels, chats or keywords — and the depth parameters. The collector works through the public history with paginated loading and returns a table where each row is a post with text, date, reach and reactions. The data is then normalized: dates are standardized, view dynamics and posting frequency calculated, duplicates removed. The finished dataset is exported to the format you need or into your system, and a regular scheduled run shows how activity and reach change over time. Private and closed chats are not included in the collection — only what is openly public.

Where the messenger and data collection came from

Telegram was launched by brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov: the iOS app came out on 14 August 2013, built on the MTProto protocol written by Nikolai. In June 2015 Telegram opened its bot platform, which is what made programmatic access to public channel data possible. The approach of automated data collection from the web is far older: the first web robot was the World Wide Web Wanderer, deployed by Matthew Gray at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 1993.
